Clerkenwell Design Week 2019: Mid-century made modern
Bringing the mid-century modern design period to life as part of our celebration of the Camira | Jens Risom collaboration, we’ll be creating an immersive showroom experience at this year’s event!
Taking centre stage will be a homage to the iconic 1961 Playboy spread 'Designs for Living', which featured Risom alongside five of the most celebrated designers of the time, Charles Eames, George Nelson, Harry Bertoia, Eero Saarinen, and Edward Wormley. Celebrating this line-up of mid-century icons, an original chair by each designer will be displayed throughout our showroom.
With the mid-century era famed for its playful design, we’ll also be providing visitors with the opportunity to take home some of the most iconic ornaments of the period; from an Eames House Bird to a Rosendahl Monkey, these decorative pieces will be dotted around the showroom for eagle-eyed visitors to find and keep.
We'll also be partnering with Shoreditch Design Rooms who will be restoring a number of original mid-century pieces and reupholstering in Zap and Armadillo. Taking place in Brewhouse Yard, we’d love you to join us in watching as the furniture is brought into the 21st century through careful craftsmanship.
Camira’s mid-century modern exhibition takes place throughout Clerkenwell Design Week at our showroom: 10 Brewhouse Yard, Clerkenwell, London EC1V 4DG.
