Design Predictions for 2025
The world of design is evolving at an unprecedented pace, with advances in technology and a global emphasis on sustainability set to shape the spaces we inhabit. At Camira, we’ve always embraced the dynamic and ever-changing nature of design, and it’s with this mindset that our head of creative, Lynn Kingdon shares her predictions for the design landscape in 2025.
Circularity as a primary design principle
The traditional linear model of “take, make, dispose” will continue to phase out as the circular economy takes hold in 2025. Designers will focus on creating products that have multiple lifecycles with a greater emphasis on a circular design model - one where products are designed for longevity, reuse, and repair.
We will also see growth in "design for disassembly," where materials can be easily separated and recycled into new products at the end of their lifecycle. This shift will transform the way we view design, making it not just about aesthetics and functionality, but also about the long-term impact on our planet.
As a manufacturer, Camira has embraced this philosophy by developing fabrics from our own manufacturing waste. In 2024 we launched ReSKU 2.0, an intelligent blend of harvested, renewable flax and our own waste fabric.
Modular furniture
Modular pieces can be rearranged, expanded, or reduced based on the specific needs of a space. Whether it’s a living room, office, or even a shared workspace, modular furniture can be customised to fit the layout and purpose of the room. As people’s needs change over time—whether due to moving, remodelling, or lifestyle.
Sustainability is another important factor in the growing popularity of modular furniture - it can be reconfigured or adapted instead of replaced, promoting a longer lifespan and reducing waste. Isomi’s Tejo sofa is a great example of modern modular furniture design.
Tech integrated designs
Technology’s integration into our daily lives will continue to reshape design in 2025. From smart homes to AI-powered interiors, design will focus more on creating spaces that adapt seamlessly to human needs in real-time.
In the workplace, technology will help optimize environments for energy efficiency, air quality, comfort, and productivity. With a growing need for focused workspaces, away from social hubs, we’re seeing a rise in acoustic pods, high-back seating, and cocooning desks designed to promote concentration.
Furniture with built-in speakers, wireless charging stations, and adjustable seating that adapts to posture will become staples of modern design. Ergonomic chairs equipped with sensors to enhance comfort and productivity are also making their way into everyday spaces, reflecting the growing importance of technology in enhancing our work and well-being.
Curtains and drapery
Curtains and drapery are becoming central design elements, offering both aesthetic and practical benefits in interiors. They introduce visual depth, soften harsh lines, and bring balance and harmony to a room. Soft wall treatments can enhance acoustics, while movable drapery offers flexible solutions for dividing spaces and maintaining privacy in open-plan layouts. Light-filtering curtains allow for a gentle influx of natural light, while blackout drapes completely block it, promoting restful sleep and protecting furniture from sun damage.
More than just window coverings, curtains and drapery are vital tools in interior design. They control light, provide privacy, and contribute texture, colour, and sophistication to a space. Whether crafting a cozy atmosphere, boosting energy efficiency, or making a bold design statement, these window treatments are crucial in shaping the function and feel of any room.
Colour
Warmer neutral shades will prevail, like chocolate brown, tan, caramel, and wood tones, linked to ‘Mocha Mousse’, offering a seamless connection to nature with their natural finishes and textured grains.
While neutral tones have long held dominance in Interiors, 2025 will usher in a bold return of vibrant colour schemes and expressive patterns that celebrate optimism and individuality. There’s a strong desire to embrace rich, joyful hues that spark creativity and personal expression. Jewel like tones of Emerald Greens and Inky Blues and in particular Dark reds, from the deep richness of burgundy to the earthy depth of burnt sienna, are set to make a powerful statement in 2025—this decadent colour is one to watch.
Pattern and texture
Tactile weaves are also making waves in the contract market, with designs that beckon to be touched. Luna Textiles, our sister brand in North America, introduced the Evoke Collection in January 2025, drawing inspiration from ancient civilizations, historical artifacts, and art. This collection is defined by its textural depth and softness, offering timeless sophistication that radiates warmth and well-being.
Camira’s new collection, Monochrome Sett is characterised by its stylish monochromatic mini patterns. Simple, yet striking, the collection creates a serene ambiance that celebrates pattern, texture, and delicate variations in tone, resulting in a visually cohesive and contemporary aesthetic.
