Curtain Fabrics
Curtains and drapes play an integral role in the spaces in which we live, work and play.
Whether keeping out the light, framing a window, controlling privacy, or simply bringing colour, texture and warmth to an interior.
They give us the opportunity to adjust our environments to support productivity and relaxation, wellbeing and comfort.
Made to impress
Each of our fabrics designed for curtains and drapes has been beautifully crafted to ensure it is the perfect accompaniment for a range of global interiors including hotel rooms, city bars, restaurants, cafes, and office spaces.
Every textile has been tested to strict performance, colour fastness and flammability standards, to ensure curtains and drapery not only look the part, but also play their part in improving fire safety and security.
Tested to the highest standards
In both public spaces and personal residences, there is nothing more important than the health and safety of people. Textile flammability can have serious implications in the event of a fire, whether it’s in a high-rise apartment building, purpose built student accommodation or a busy city centre hotel.
As a result, Camira fabrics are stringently tested to meet a multitude of global flammability standards for curtains and drapery, demonstrating that they are safe to use in commercial and residential spaces. Some fabrics are inherently flame retardant, while others need a specific treatment, such as Gorts, in order to uplift their flammability performance.
Functional, stylish and sustainable
Camira’s portfolio of environmentally intelligent fabrics for curtains and drapery each has their own unique eco-story to tell. Produced from natural fibres and recycled materials, these exquisitely woven textiles are not only visually appealing, but also kind to the earth.
They meet several third-party accredited eco-labels, including EU Ecolabel, STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® and Indoor Advantage Gold, indicating their compliance with specific environmental standards. We also have many natural and synthetic fabrics which carry independently verified Environmental Product Declarations.
Wool curtain fabric
Wool fabrics, such as Blazer and Synergy, have a luxurious drape and fluidity, which make them perfect for curtain applications. The woollen fibres have a microscopic, armour-like coating which preserves the fabric’s appearance for longer, while their natural crimp prevents flattening and improves drapability.
Our wool blend textiles, including Main Line Flax, Main Line Twist, Hemp, Silk and Craggan Flax, are woven using natural bast fibres such as hemp and flax. When blended together, the combination of wool and plant fibres provides inherent natural flame retardancy. They are also fully biodegradable, and the plant fibres not only absorb carbon dioxide as they grow, but also contribute to the biodiversity of the fields in which they are cultivated.
Sustainable curtain fabrics
Other options for curtains and drapery include Camira’s SEAQUAL® fabrics, Quest and Oceanic, which are woven from recycled plastic removed from our oceans. Polyesters with a higher purpose, not only look good but do good, highlighting the issue of marine plastic pollution and supporting the local communities involved in plastic waste collection.
