With specialist capabilities ranging from technical development, blending, carding, spinning and twisting to advanced recycling of wool and cashmere products.

We work with premium natural fibre types, including wool, and environmental blends of wool and plant fibres such as hemp, flax, nettle and jute, enabling us to create inherently flame retardant yarns – without added chemical treatments – which can meet the higher level UK contract FR standard: Crib 5 Medium Hazard.

We have three Blending Lines enabling us to produce smaller sample size batches as well as larger volume batch quantities, in white, coloured and speciality blends. This is the starting point of our yarn manufacturing process, accommodating all types of staple fibre, where we blend raw materials and colour recipes to create yarns to customer specific requirements, making sure we produce the optimum base on which our subsequent processes are built.

We operate 15 carding machines of 1.5m providing huge flexibility on shade and batch size. In addition, for larger batch sizes and bulk orders we have the bigger we have both a 2.5 metre and 3 metre carding machine. Our expertise facilitates efficient processing of fibres from fine lambswool and cashmere blends through to heavier count double condensed yarns.

We have thirteen traditional woollen spinning frames enabling flexibility, as well as a mecatronic frame for volume lots. Our largest spinning frame has a central headstock of 386 spindles, making it one of the largest in Europe.

We have 2 winding machines for heavier count yarns, as well as 2 state of art Savio Polar Winding frames, fitted with the latest thermal splicing technology and advanced yarn clearers to ensure the yarn is even and fault free. We can also assembly wind up to 8 ends on to creels for further processing.

We have 2 Volkmann 2 for 1 twisters to handle a wide range of natural and synthetic fibre yarns, with ability to ply 8 ends together.

Camira Yarns is home to wool recycling specialist iinouiio, which is a state of the art recycling capability for re-purposing wool and cashmere. Using brand new technology, which reinvents shoddy manufacturing, we can provide full textile recycling from waste wool yarn or fabric, back to fibre for blending, carding and spinning. Circular wool yarns can be created in a range of counts and blended qualities, drawing on the original colouration of the yarn or fabric to remove the need for subsequent dyeing. We have also invested in soft waste re-processing equipment, which allows us to recycle carded wool waste for re-processing back into spun yarn.

When we were founded as Stork Brothers Ltd by the Stork family in Huddersfield. So we have honed our craft for more than 150 years, becoming part of Camira Group in 2013, innovating in new environmental yarns for contract and apparel, investing in new technology while preserving age old techniques which have stood the test of time.

We specialise in woolen spun yarns in a wide range of yarn counts and qualities from 100% wool to wool blended with other natural or synthetic fibre types. We’re a committed team of over 50 staff, with flexible shifts for production up to 24 hours a day, enabling us to respond quickly to customer needs, able to process up to 30 tonnes per week.
